Are you struggling with floaters? If so, it’s time to turn to the professionals at the Phoenixville Eye Associates for effective treatment. Our team is led by Philadelphia corneal specialist Dr. James Lewis, an innovator in dry eye treatment who currently offers a range of options designed to lubricate and soothe the eyes.
About Dr. James Lewis
Dr. James Lewis graduated from Princeton University and Thomas Jefferson Medical College, where he won awards in ophthalmology and research. He was selected as chief resident during his third year at Duke University Eye Center and subsequently was offered a faculty position, but instead opted to complete subspecialty training in corneal and refractive surgery, in South Australia. After his return to the United States, Dr. Lewis accepted a position as Director of Cornea and Anterior Segment Surgery at Hahnemann University in Philadelphia.
Dr. Lewis currently serves as the Director of Cornea, Cataract and Refractive Surgery at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry of Salus University, located in Philadelphia. He is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and focuses his practice on LASIK, corneal and cataract surgery in Philadelphia, serving the surrounding Pennsylvania and New Jersey areas.
Publications and Speaking Engagements
Dr. Lewis is an authority on the subjects of intraocular lens insertion without capsular support and microkeratome flap creation during LASIK surgery; he has lectured around the world on these topics, speaking to the most prestigious ophthalmology associations, including the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the World Ophthalmology Congress and the European Society for Cataract and Refractive Surgeons. Dr. Lewis has also published extensively on implantable contact lenses (ICLs).
Innovations
Dr. Lewis was involved in the development of important instruments for suture management in corneal transplantation. He also was a key participant in several FDA clinical trials for ophthalmic equipment companies such as AMO, Morcher, Moria and Staar. Dr. Lewis was the first Delaware Valley surgeon to implant the Staar Visian ICL and is one of seven surgeons nationally to be selected for Staar’s Collamer Accommodation Study Team. He was also the first surgeon to work with the Moria SBK microkeratome device for LASIK surgery, and was named a “mover and shaker of premium IOL surgery” by Ocular Surgery News.
